Homework #8 [30 House points]
Short Answer Questions [20 House Points]
Please ensure you provide your answers with full sentences!
1. What does one learn in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class?
2. Who can become a Head of House?
3. What are the duties of a Matron?
4. How can you summarize the Astronomy class?
5. What are the responsibilities for the Head of School?
6. Why is the Muggle Studies class important?
7. What type of assignments can a student have in Potions?
8. Who replaces unavailable Heads of School and for how long?
9. What are the duties of the Caretaker?
10. Why do the professors for the DADA class change so frequently?
Opinion (long answer) Questions [10 House Points]
There are no true right/wrong answers here, but please back up your reasoning. For full points include about 100 words per answer.
1. Given what is studied in Muggle Studies, do you think it should become a mandatory course or do you think it should remain an elective one? Why? How important do you think this class is?
2. We mentioned in the lesson that a Head of House can also hold the Deputy Headmaster/Headmistress position, but not the Headmaster/Headmistress position. Why do you think this limitation exists? Do you agree with that reasoning? Would you impose similar limitations for other positions (for example a Caretaker not being able to hold a Head of House position)?

Extra Credit #8 [30 house points]
There are two options available for this extra credit, please pick and complete ONE of the two. You can of course do both, if you find them both interesting, but do keep in mind I will only be able to grade and give out house points for one of them.
OPTION #1 - PUZZLE
Below I have listed 15 names taken from the lesson. Your task is to tell me the corresponding position(s) which they've held. Keep in mind that some of them have held multiple positions and you'll need to include all to earn two house points. You'll get two house points for each correct answer. Please make sure you list your entries clearly. ("1 - Ancient Runes Professor, Librarian", or "Rubeus Hagrid - Ancient Runes Professor, Librarian", are both examples of clear submissions though not necessarily correct answers).
OPTION #2 - WRITING
Obviously we've listed various positions, as well as a large number of people who have held those positions throughout the years. However, not all of them are well known. In fact for many of them we do not even have the timeframe in which they held said title. Your task for this option is to tell us about one of these listed characters. Pick a name and tell us who they are, their life story, their career, how they reached their Hogwarts position, what happened to them afterward, etc. Get creative!
You choose what type of details you want to include. This must be done in no less than 200 words for full house points (shorter submissions for fewer house points are accepted). You can do this in the form of a CV, a story about the person, poetry, whichever way you think it's best.
